Over the next few weeks, free digital television networks will be available to Central Valley viewers on Cocola Broadcasting Co.’s channels KVBC 13.1-13.10 and KBID 31.1-31.10.

The first 16 channels are scheduled to launch in the coming days.

Me-TV (Memorable Entertainment Television), the popular digital classic television network which airs on KGMC 43.6, Comcast 187, and Northland Cable 2 & 9, will also begin simulcasting on KVBC 13.1 to extend its reach to areas North of Merced, not currently being reached on 43.6.

The announcement was jointly made by Gary M. Cocola, chairman and CEO of Cocola Broadcasting Companies and Mark Shirin, president of Ventura TV, both of Fresno. This announcement comes nearly three years following the launch of Me-TV Fresno and the historic partnership between two locally-owned Central Valley businesses, one a broadcaster founded in the early 1980s, and the other, an independent local retailer of electronics and appliances since 1951.

“The success of Me-TV Fresno over the past three years encouraged us to seek out additional high-quality, national networks that are not represented by any of the local broadcast or paid television services. Hence, we formed the Ventura Broadcasting Company division (VBC), secured the necessary broadcast licensing rights, and constructed our own broadcast center. Our facilities now include seven satellite dishes receiving network feeds, a communication tower with sky-cam, a green-screen production studio, a master control suite, and state-of-the-art broadcast equipment.” stated Shirin.

The new broadcast center was constructed in Ventura TV’s adjoining warehouse in Fresno. The addition of VBC’s new programming will bring the total channel count to over 80 free broadcast stations in Central California.

Viewers will be able to tune in 24-7, by simply connecting an outdoor antenna to a digital TV or converter box.

Cocola noted that, “Viewers should re-scan their digital television or converter box over the next few days to ensure reception of the new channels as they are launched.”
